
Procurement Manager
Position Summary:
The Procurement Manager at Vertical Harvest Maine is responsible for managing and optimizing all sourcing and procurement activities by overseeing the process of acquiring goods and services to ensure the company has the necessary supplies to operate efficiently. He or she is responsible for strategically sourcing suppliers, negotiating contracts, managing purchase orders, and ensuring the best possible price and quality while adhering to company needs and budget constraints. The Procurment Manager plays a pivotal role in driving procurement strategies, managing vendor relationships, and ensuring the timely and cost-effective fulfillment of business needs while mitigating risks across a complex supply chain.
Essential Responsibilities:
- Researching and identifying potential suppliers, assessing their capabilities, and selecting the most suitable vendors based on price, quality, delivery time, and reliability.
- Negotiating terms and conditions of purchase agreements with suppliers, including pricing, payment terms, delivery schedules, and quality standards.
- Analyzing market trends, identifying cost-saving opportunities, and implementing strategies to optimize procurement spend.
- Creating and managing purchase orders, ensuring timely delivery of goods and services, and resolving any discrepancies with suppliers.
- Building and maintaining strong relationships with key suppliers, addressing concerns, and monitoring supplier performance.
- Developing and implementing procurement strategies aligned with company goals, including risk mitigation plans and sustainability initiatives.
- Staying updated on market trends, supplier capabilities, and industry regulations to make informed procurement decisions.
- Forecasting procurement needs, managing budgets, and tracking procurement expenditures.
- Ensuring adherence to company policies, legal requirements, and ethical procurement practices.
- Supervising a team of procurement professionals, assigning tasks, and providing coaching and development opportunities.
Requirements:
REQUIRED EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, AND SKILLS:
- Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or a related field.
- 3-5 of experience in procurement, sourcing, or supply chain management.
- Strong knowledge of procurement processes, RFP management, and contract negotiation.
- Experience with vendor management and performance monitoring.
- Proven ability to build and execute fulfillment strategies.
- Excellent communication, negotiation, and analytical skills.
- Proficient in procurement software/tools and Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, PowerPoint, Word).
- Strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously.
- Ability to work effectively in a collaborative, fast-paced environment.
PREFERRED EXPERIENCE, AND SKILLS:
- Experience working in the CPG industry and/or third-party manufacturing.
- Experience with NetSuite ERP is a plus.
